Unleashing the Beast: Custom Supercharged Street Bob
Guys, as you can see, this is my Tough Series Street Bob. This was one of my personal bikes, and I’ve put a lot of effort into the motor on this beast. It belongs to the Tough Cycles family and is just touching on 180 horsepower. Yes, you heard that right—pro charged, which means it’s supercharged with a 103-inch motor.
The Heart of the Beast: Engine Modifications
The heads and cams are custom, and it’s controlled by the Fundamax computer. I can confidently say it’s a beast of a bike. I haven’t ridden anything faster. We’ve even had to re-pad the seat to make sure you don’t come off the back when you hit the throttle. The pro charger is running just over eight pounds of boost. The 103 cams are my own choice, coupled with big injectors and big valves. It comes standard with a lock-up clutch, making it light and nice to handle.
Custom Aesthetics and Performance Enhancements
The wheels are part of the Tough Series, and I’ve blacked it out with a really nice paint job. It’s a great bike. The Street Bobs don’t get lots of credit—everyone seems to favour the soft tails—but this thing is just whipping fast, especially up through the mountains. It’s a real lot of fun to ride.
The Street Bob Experience
It gets a lot of looks when you pull up at a pub; it tends to empty the pub out as everyone comes to check out what’s going on with the supercharged bike out the front. I’ve been fitting superchargers for a long time, probably 15 years now, and I absolutely love a supercharged motor. These pro chargers are available at APL Performance Bikes and Tough Cycles. They’re just a ball of fun, and I really enjoy fitting them up. It probably takes me about a day, so they’re pretty quick to install.
The Joy of Supercharging
This particular blower on this bike has been painted and touched up nicely—that’s part of what Tough Cycles does with their bikes. I hope you enjoy this bike as much as I do. Have a look around it, and don’t hesitate to ask me to start it up. It’s an awesome-sounding bike and pretty much the signature style of mine: black, hard, fast, and tough.
